NUJ Games: Complete Sports Escapes Defeat From Kirikiri Warriors
The Med-View/Lagos NUJ Media Games rolled off in style yesterday at the Legacy pitch of the National Stadium with Journalists the centre of attraction in the football events. Defending Champions, Kirikiri Warriors (Vanguard) sent out warning signals to their next opponents, Business Plus after terrorising Complete Sports throughout the match that ended scoreless.
Like the Nations Cup qualifier between the Super Eagles and Taifa Stars of Tanzania, Complete Sports tucked their tails in between their legs from incessant attacks from the ferocious Kirikiri Warriors attackers. Vanguard tossed them around the pitch to the delight of many. They were lucky to escape defeat and celebrated the draw at the end of the match.
Prince Osuagwu, the Manager of Kirikiri Warriors regretted the many chances not converted but warned their next opponents that ‘’a warrior does not give up what he loves, he finds the love in what he does’’.
‘’First games are always difficult. But am proud of the boys and the crowd showed support and love for good football. It ended goalless to their advantage but I feel for our next opponents. They’ll feel the pain’’, he warned.
At the Corporate Headquarters, Onochie Anibeze, an ex-international, former Vasco Da Gama defence ace who managed many international coaches charged Vanguard to show why they are at the vanguard of media organizations in the country by winning the NUJ trophy back-to-back.
NUJ Chairman, (Vanguard) Innocent Anaba assured that the Kirikiri Warriors’ strength, skill and sassy display would see them lift the trophy again.
The Vanguard Warriors play Business Plus tomorrow at the National Stadium, Lagos. It is a must win match for the Sam Amuka Warriors.
